I'm an experienced Tarkov player and I'm writing this guide to try and assist new Tarkov players learn the game, because it has one hell of a learning curve. Escape from Tarkov is a tactical, realistic, FPS with MMO elements developed by Battlestate Games. It is currently in closed Beta. The game features several maps in which your primary character, your PMC, goes into Raids in order to find and salvage loot and useful equipment to survive and thrive in Tarkov. Death is very punishing in Tarkov. If you die you lose everything you had on you when you die (with the exception of what's inside your Container and your melee weapon) including any equipment you brought with you or what you found inside the Raid. Enemies can be players (PMCs) or Scavengers ('Scavs') that are either controlled by AI or by players. Unlike many shooters, AI enemies in Tarkov are deadly - they can and will kill you on sight. They have recently been upgraded to act more intelligently, shoot more accurately, and react to situations on the map, such as investigating noise of gunfire or searching. It features beautiful and immersive environments, intricate and in-depth weapon modification system, a complex health system, dynamic and specific loot placement, and multiple options for engagement. Do you want to play slow and stealthy, to avoid fights, or set up a deadly ambush on an unwary foe? Offline Raids - Player Practice
Offline raids is a feature added for testing and learning purposes for both new and veteran players alike. It is an incredibly useful tool. In an offline raid, your progress is not saved. This means you don't keep anything you find, keep any experience 'earned' if you successfully extract, or lose any gear when/if you die. To access OFFLINE Raids, head into a Raid normally until you see this screen. Then Check the box indicating that you want to do an OFFLINE raid and you're good to go! You even have a choice on whether or not to add AI. You can also control how many AI enemies spawn, fewer than normal or a great deal more! You can even make Scavs fight each other. (Framerates beware.) You can control how many scavs spawn (if any) as well as a number of other paramaters. New players should use offline raids as a tool to practice shooting, controls, movement, etc.
Tarkov features several maps - ranging from wide, beautiful vistas to ruined factory districts, to an abandoned laboratory where illegal experiments were being conducted. It is important to learn the maps you intend to play. In order to keep your gear, you must 'extract' at one of your designated exfiltration points. Not all extracts will be active every game, and some are conditional.
To see what extracts are available to you, double tap 'O' to show raid time and your exfils. If it has a ???? it might not be open.
Gate 3 Extract A small, fast-paced map that was primarily created for PvP. Scavs spawn in all the time. Very close quarters, shotguns and SMGs tend to dominate here. PMCs can only access one Exit (Gate 3) without the Factory Exit Key. Good place to go if you need PMC kills as action is pretty much guaranteed. It is recommended NOT to bring in a lot of gear to Factory until you are experienced. Factory Map in PvP is best played in Duos - due to the layout of the map, a Maximum of 6 PMCs may be present in the game. Due to the split spawn points, you effectively have 'sides' that have up to 3 spawn locations that are close together. This is why it is recommended to secure/scout enemy spawn locations. If you go in with a Duo, you at max have 2 players on your side for an even 2v2, and if played smartly you can eliminate them and know your 'side' is secure from aggression for the time being. Upon loading in, scavs usually take a couple minutes to spawn, though this depends on the server in question and isn't super reliable. For new players, the best loadout in Factory is going to be a MP-153 Loadout - using just an MBSS (or similar bag) and ammo in your pocket to fight other players and Scavs. Scavs will often spawn with AKs and other 'vendorable' weapons, so is a good source of income. Factory is also one of the best maps to Scav into, as Scavs can typically avoid the Exit camping strategy employed by a lot of weaker or newer players in order to secure gear, because they typically have extra exfiltrations whereas PMCs without the Factory Exit Key are stuck using Gate 3. If you go in with a modicum of gear, it is recommended to keep at least a flashbang (Zarya) in your container. This will allow you to quickly slot it into an empty chest rig or pocket so you can throw it into the exit door, this will flash enemies and is cheap to do - the one time you survive because you flashed the 3 exit campers using shotguns will make this strategy extremely valuable.
Extract map A fairly large map that was recently expanded and is expected to receive an overhaul within a patch or two, due to the choke point design of the map. Essentially, players spawn either on 'warehouse' or 'boiler (stacks)' side. If you see a large red warehouse ('big red') near you (Customs Warehouse), then you spawned on the warehouse side. If you don't, you likely spawned near Boiler side. Players can also spawn in several places in the woods North of boilers. This map has the most quests in the game. Geared players often come to customs to challenge other squads over Dorm loot and to fight a Scav boss. New players are usually trying to do one of several early quests, such as ‘Debut’ which tasks them with killing 5 scavs on Customs and acquiring 2 MR-133 shotguns (pump shotties) from their corpses. Construction is also a popular hotspot as it has a lot of scav spawns as well as the location for the Bronze Pocketwatch, which is Prapor’s second quest. Customs itself does not offer very much loot on average. There are several spots which can contain decent, but the vast majority is located in a couple different locations. Dorms is the best loot location for Customs. It has two sets, 2 story and 3 story dorms. They each have their own sections of good loot, but the best is considered to be 3 story dorms, due to the presence of the Marked Room. The marked room requires a marked key to open, and has a good chance to spawn rare loot, such as keytools, documents cases, weapons cases, and high-end weapons. Due to the nature of the high value of this room, it’s almost always contested and it’s one of the best rooms in the game to farm, albeit with difficulty to successfully extract with the loot found. Note, though the key required has a maximum amount of uses, it is a fairly cheap key, and worth buying if you like to run customs and go to Dorms. Dorms also has a ton of early quests (Operation Aquarius, for one) with some keys being valuable to use, but most dorms keys aren’t worth that much on the market. There’s too many to list here, but make sure to check the Map Keys and You at the top of the guide to determine what the value of a particular key is. Checkpoint (Military Checkpoint) is also a decent loot spot, though not nearly as good as Dorms. If you have the key, it has a grenade box and 2 ammo boxes which can spawn good ammo. The jacket in the blue car also can spawn good medical keys as well as medical items. It is very close to the gas station, so I’ll include that here as well. The Gas Station is one of the possible spawn locations for the scav boss. It has loose food items, a weapon box in the side room, with two keyed rooms leading to a safe and a med bag and box. Also contains a couple registers and food spawns on the floor. The emercom key can spawn on the seat in the ambulance out front. North of the gas station is the Antenna, which contains 3 weapon boxes, a tool box, and a med bag. Possible location for scav boss spawn, albeit rarely, and also spawns regular scavs, like checkpoint and gas station. Beyond that, there’s scattered loot around the map in different places, but usually not enough to warrant going out of your way for. There’s also scav caches, mostly around the middle road outside construction and around the boiler area. The scav boss for customs is 'Reshala.’ He has 5 guards that have above-average gear and can be tough to deal with solo. The guards tend to be more aggressive than normal scavs, so they can be a lot to handle but are vulnerable to fragmentation grenades or flashbangs due to their close proximity to one another. Reshala himself has a good chance to have one or more bitcoin in his pockets, as well as his unique Golden TT, which is required for a Jaegar quest and used in conjunction with other Golden TT's to purchase a Tactec, good plate carrier. Reshala may spawn either Dorms (either bldg), New Gas Station, or rarely the tower north of the gas station. Scav bosses are dangerous enemies with escorts that have above-average loot (sometimes great loot) and are hostile to everyone, Including player scavs. Scav guards will approach a player scav and basically tell them to leave the area, and if they walk closer towards the scav boss they turn hostile. The ‘official’ spawn rate for Reshala is 35%.
Woods Map with Exfil A very large map that is mostly just a large forest, with the occasional bunker, and the Lumber Mill in the center. The Lumber Mill is the primary point of interest, as it contains a couple quest locations and is the primary location to farm Scavs, as Scavs killed on woods are a good source of end-game keys that are hard to find. Since the map is so large and open, sniper rifles with scopes usually reign king here. You will see a lot of players with Mosin rifles as they are a cheap way to train the Sniper skill (for a quest later on) and are capable of killing geared players and scavs alike. Overall, not usually very populated. An early quest from Prapor sends you here to kill a number of Scavs. A good map to learn the game, as although the loot is not fantastic, you can get experience with how the game runs and operates while fighting AI and possibly getting lucky with a key find off a scav. As of .12, Woods now houses a Scav boss that acts as a Sniper scav. He is incredibly dangerous and usually carries a tricked-out SVDS. The 7.62x54 caliber is not to be underestimated. That caliber can and will wreck your shit through what most players are capable of wearing, especially early on in a wipe. He may also carry an AK-105, so he's going to be dangerous at both short and long ranges. He has two guards, and he typically patrols the area around the Sawmill, and carries a key to a cache nearby full of goodies. His key is part of a quest for Jaegar. Woods also has two bunkers, one of them being an extract and requiring a key. Both bunkers have some moderate loot in them, thus worth visiting, though not necessarily worth going out of your way for them. Several quests occur around the sawmill area, which contains a good couple keys that can spawn.
Shoreline Map, with Loot, Exfil, etc A very large map, notorious for its FPS hit. Generally speaking, one of the better maps for loot. The primary point of interest is the Resort, but scavs spawn there, and is primarily occupied by hatchlings (players only with hatchet, ie melee weapon) and geared players. Resort has great loot, but requires keys to access most of it. A great map to learn though from new players as the outskirts still contains plenty of loot and combat opportunities with AI scavs. You can hit Villa, Scav Island, Weather station, Docks, etc and come out with a backpack full of valuable gear fairly easily. The Village (Not to be confused with villa) contains a lot of toolboxes which can contain lots of parts used to upgrade your Hideout. Location of many quests, including a large quest chain where players are required to kill many, many, scavs on Shoreline. For this and other reasons, probably the best map for new players to learn the game with. A good loot route is to hit the village (caches in it), scav island (2 med bags, 2 toolboxes, 2 weapon boxes, 1 cache), burning gas station (weapon boxes and a safe), pier (potential extract, 2 pcs 2 safes and lots of filing cabinets), and weather station. Scavs may spawn around these areas, but most players just head straight for resort anyway, so you are much less likely to encounter them, especially if you avoid Mylta power (most players hit it on the way to or leaving from the resort). Excellent route as a player scav as well.
Detailed map Great, great loot area, but very complex map. Old computers might face unique struggles with this map. Features a mostly-binary exfil system like Shoreline, but.. kinda worse. Exfil camping is fairly common on this map, but usually avoidable. Huge map with multiple floors and many many different stores. Communication with teammates is a challenge on this map, but the map is also fantastically detailed. This map features a lot of loot that depends on the kind of store you're in. It's a great place to farm rare barter materials which are valuable to sell on the Flea market or to use for quests or for hideout upgrades. An early quest (from Ragman) sends you here to kill a large amount of Scavs. I'd recommend getting Ragman to level 2 and accepting his quest asap when going to Interchange, as getting this quest done can take a while as it is and you want all scav kills to count towards progress. Both the tech stores (Techlight, Techxo, Rasmussen) and department stores (Groshan, Idea, OLI) are the primary places to hit. There’s also Kiba (weapons store) as well as Emercom and Mantis. Players have different strategies, but this map is unique in the sense that it really rewards exploring. Most stores will have things you can grab that are worth quite a bit but are often overlooked. Very popular place to go in as a Player Scav.
Brand new map, chock full of loot. Has more complex extracts than other maps, save for Labs. Excellent place to farm rare barter items, computer parts, and especially military hardware. PMCs have limited extracts, most being conditional, and the ones that aren’t require activation of ‘power’ to turn on the extract, which alerts the map the extract has been opened and can spawn Raiders (more on them below.) Additionally, has a scav boss by the name of Glukhar, who has multiple heavily armed guards. He has multiple spawn locations and can arrive with the train.
DISCLAIMER: Labs, like much of Tarkov, is under constant development, so issues may be fixed or created without warning. Always check patch notes!
Labs is a very complex map compared to the rest of Tarkov. There is a great deal more exfiltrations but many of them have requirements or a sequence of events needed to be able to extract from them. It is recommended to read the Tarkov Wiki on Labs before raiding there.
LABS IS NOT LIKE OTHER MAPS. READ THIS SECTION CAREFULLY.
Labs is a lucrative end-game raid location, comparable to 'dungeons' in other games. They are populated by tougher enemies that give greater rewards. In order to go to labs, you need to acquire a keycard, this functions like mechanical keys but instead of opening a door, they unlock your ability to select Labs for a raid. They may be found in-raid in various locations, most notably in scavs backpacks, pockets, and in filing cabinets. They may be purchased from Therapist at LL4 for 189K Roubles. Labs are populated by a unique kind of AI enemy, Raiders.
Raiders are the Labs form of Scavs, or AI enemies. However, unlike other maps, they cannot contain player Scavs. Raiders have a much tougher than your average scav, they are capable of advanced tactics (such as flanking) and throw grenades and use other consumables as a player would. Once 'locked' onto you, they are typically capable of killing you very quickly, even if you are wearing high-end armor. In Tarkov, Raiders act like the avatars of Death. They are clad in USEC and BEAR equipment, as they are effectively AI PMCs. Many changes have been made to labs and specifically how Raider AI works and to prevent exploits to easily farm them as well as bugs where they could be deadlier than intended. A general rule of thumb is not to fight Raiders directly. They can and WILL kill you. Raiders can spawn with 7N9, or 'big boy' ammo. This ammunition type is incredibly lethal to players, even those wearing the toughest armor. If you get shot in the head, doesn't matter what kind of helmet, face shield, killa helmet, etc you are wearing, you will almost certainly die. Because Raiders are controlled by AI, they have zero ping. They may also end to immediately respond as if you were aggressive even if they did not originally know you were there - ESP Raiders effectively will prone and return fire even as you ADS and put them in your sights. This is why engaging a Raider must be done very, very carefully. There are a few strategies that you may employ, most commonly some form of baiting them towards an area and then killing them when they arrive. Players may accomplish this by generating noise - gunfire, melee weapon hitting walls, crates, etc, player deaths, players Mumbling (F1 by default) can all attract Raiders to investigate your area. Due to the high power of Raiders, players often go in with minimal loadouts and seek to avoid conflict with other players, especially geared ones. Most players avoid PvP in Labs, though a good portion of the playerbase thoroughly enjoys hunting down poorly-geared players after they kill a few Raiders for them. As such, players will lay prone in a hallway, or crouch in a room, and attract Raiders to enter their domicile by opening the door, and immediately headshotting them. Few Raiders actually wear helmets (though some do) so most players specialize in 'flesh ammo' or, ammunition that foregoes armor penetration in favor of raw damage in order to kill Raiders more reliably, because Raiders have slightly higher head health than PMCs do. Raiders spawn with a great variety of equipment, weapons, armor, and materials such as medication or hideout parts. They tend to have chest armor and may have different helmets. Their pockets can contain Labs keycards, morphine, Ifaks, cash, and other items. They're always worth checking. Raiders are a good source of grenades, they will often have F-1's and Zarya's in their rig or pockets that you can use to fight off players and Raiders alike. Recently, changes have been made to Labs to make them less profitable so that other maps are more appealing. The cost and rarity of keycards increased, as well as reducing the frequency that raiders spawn, so that they come in more infrequent groups but also tighter in formation, while also lowering the overall output of individual Raiders, so that they are less likely to have a bunch of extra materials, such as grenades and other items.
Experience Farming on Labs
Labs is one of the best places to farm experience in the entire game. Killing a Raider with a headshot awards 1100 Experience. This does not include any looting, inspection (searching bodies), examine, streak, or other experience. Killing a large sequence of Raiders gives additional bonus experience in the form of Streak rewards, usually 100 bonus exp per additional kill. Surviving the raid multiplies all of these sources of experience by 1.5x
Changes coming to Labs

It known that Labs will eventually be accessed via the Streets of Tarkov map, and will require you to enter that map, make it to the labs entrance, and then extract from Labs to return to Streets of Tarkov and exfil from there as well. This will likely add an additional layer of risk to being ambushed for your goodies along your way out, as well as punishing damage taken in labs more severely. It features a very wide variety of effects and injury, including hydration, energy, blood pressure, blood loss, fractures, contusion, intoxication, exhaustion, tremors and more. Not all of the Health System is implemented yet. Expect changes! Your character (PMC, or otherwise) has a combined Health of 435. Each of his limbs have separate health. Taking damage to a limb that reduces it to 0 'blacks' that limb. Blacked limbs are a problem. They greatly impair the activities your PMC performs, and taking damage in a blacked limb amplifies the damage by a multiplier and spreads that damage among your other non-black limbs equally. You cannot heal a blacked limb without the use of a Surgical Kit. Notes:Bloodloss applies damage to the affected limb and can be spread like other damage to a blacked limb. Treat immediately. Also causes significant dehydration! Bloodloss also helps level your Vitality skill, which in turn gives you experience towards your Health skill, which is necessary to reach level 2 of in order to improve your hideout. Fractures require specialized medical kits to heal. Dehydration is what happens when your Hydration level reaches 0. You can view your Hydration level in your gear page, at the bottom left. Available from Level I Therapist, they are cheap and effective way of healing early in the game. They will not stop bloodloss. Because of this, you also need to bring bandages or a higher-grade medical kit. Affectionately called 'little cheeses' by the Tarkov community. Using it takes 2 seconds, and because of how cheap it is, it's often brought in by higher level players to supplement their healing without draining their main kit (which is capable of healing bloodloss or sometimes fractures). Due to its short use time, it's often very useful during combat as you can take cover and quickly recover damage taken to a vital limb. They're also useful as you can buy them from Therapist to heal yourself if you died in a raid. Bandages The newb's bloodloss solution. Available from Therapist at Level I. A better version, the Army Bandage is available at Level II, after a quest. Mostly obsolete after unlocking the Car Medical kit, but some players value them due to the Car's overall low health pool. Activating takes 4 seconds, and removes bloodloss to one limb. Splint The newb's solution to fractures. Cheap, takes five seconds to use, and takes up 1 slot. Fractures are much more common this patch, due to them being added back in the game from standard bullet wounds, not just drops. Available from Therapist at Level I, no quest needed. Can be used to craft a Salewa. Alu Splint More advanced form of the normal split. Works the same, but has up to 5 uses. Recommended to carry in your container if possible, due to frequency of fractures from gunfire. CMS (Compact Medical Surgery) Kit New medical item added in .12, fantastic item. Allows you to perform field surgery, removing the black limb state and allowing you to heal it beyond 0 hp. Takes 16 seconds to use, and cannot be cancelled so make sure you are safe if you are using it! Will reduce the maximum health of the limb it's used on by 40-55%, but will effectively remove all negative effects incurred by having a black limb. Highly recommended to carry in your container for emergencies. Can be bartered from Jaeger LL1, and purchased for roubles LL2. Surv12 field surgical kit Same as the compact surgical kit, but takes 4 seconds longer, and the health penalty is reduces to 10-20% max health of the limb. Considering this kit is 1x3, taking up a huge amount of space, it's probably not worth using. It's just too large. Better this than nothing, though. Car Medical Kit The newb's first real medical solution. Available LL1 as a barter (2 Duct Tape) and available for Roubles after completing Therapist's second quest. Has a larger health pool than AI-2's (220, vs AI-2's 100), and removes bloodloss. Takes up a 1x2 slot, so requires to be placed in a tactical rig in order to be used effectively. Cheap and fairly efficient, takes a standard 4 seconds to use. Rendered effectively obsolete when the Salewa is unlocked. Often kept in a player's secure container as a backup health pool, before IFAKs are unlocked. Salewa Good medkit for use in mid and end-game. Contains 400 total health and can remove bloodloss. More rouble efficient form of a healing due to its high health pool, costs 13k roubles. Same size as the Car medical kit, so requires a tactical rig to use effectively. Because Tarkov does not currently have effects like Toxication in the game at the moment, this kit is favored by most players who go into a raid with at least a moderate level of gear. With a high health pool and relatively low cost, it's also a more efficient way of healing damage sustained while in raids. Unlocked at Therapist Level II after completing a level 10 Prapor quest, Postman Pat Part II. Required as part of Therapist's first quest, Shortage. This makes Salewas very valuable early on in a wipe as it gatekeeps the rest of Therapist's quests, most of which occur on Customs early on. Can be crafted in your meds station with a painkiller, splint, and bandage. IFAK Fantastic medical kit, and is the one preferred by most players. Features 300 health and the ability to remove bloodloss and a host of other negative effects that are not yet implemented into the game. It does not, however, remove fractures. It is also a very large kit, taking up 4 slots (2x2) - in order to be able to use this quickly, it would require specialized tactical rigs that feature a 2x2 slot. It removes all negative effects (some costing HP resource), including fractures. Used by highly-geared players who intend on staying in raids for an extended period of time, or by players with additional Secure Container space available in case of emergencies. It is available for barter at Therapist Level II, and purchase at Therapist Level 4. Due to its price point from Therapist at just under 23k Roubles and its healthpool of 1800, it is by far the most efficient method of healing from raid damage, at a 1.3 roubles per health, dramatically lower than other options available. Can be crafted in Lvl 3 medstation.
Using any of these items results in your character being 'On Painkillers' which allows you to sprint on fractured and blacked legs, as well as reducing effects of fractures and blacked limbs, and removing the debuff Pain. Essentially, the only difference between most of these items are the speed of use, price, availability, and duration of the effect. Note that the Hideout has changed how some of these items are used, and because Tarkov is under constant development, it is very likely that these materials may be used to create higher-grade medkits or to upgrade your medstation. That being the case, it's best to hoard the unknown items for now as efficiently as possible until you know you don't need them. Analgin Painkillers The holy grail of pain medication. "Painkillers" have 4 total uses. The total duration is greater than Morphine and less risk of waste. Takes a short time to use, and is available from Therapist Level 1 for both barter and Roubles. Makes a loud, distinctive gulping noise. Can be used to craft Salewa kits. Morphine Quick application of painkillers. Favored by some highly geared players as it has greater usability in combat then it's typical counterpart, Painkillers. Has a longer duration, but only one use. It is required for a fairly early Therapist (and a late Peacekeeper) Quest, so it is recommend to hoard 10 of them, then sell the rest unless you intend on using them. They are worth a good amount to Therapist and take up little space so they are a valuable loot item. Available from Therapist for Roubles at Level 4, after completing Healthcare Privacy, Part 3. Augmentin Basically a cheaper Morphine. One use, 205s. Not recommended over Painkillers due to its cost. No current barter for this item, so usually it's just a fairly expensive, small loot item. This item is recommended as your long-term solution for painkillers. While it is valuable because it's used to trade for THICC items case, it's the cheapest component and is very useful as a painkiller. It has a long duration and a large amount of uses, so keep it in your container for use as a painkiller if your primary painkillers wear off. Don't use it completely up, though. Keep the 1/12 bottles for the trade. Vaseline Powerful medical item. Cannot be purchased from dealers. Has a maximum of 10 uses. Removes Pain, applies Painkillers for 500 seconds (8.3 minutes). Useful to keep in your container as an alternative to Painkillers, though it takes 6 seconds to use, which is longer than other painkillers. Used as part of a barter trade for the Medcase. Golden Star Balm Fairly useful medical item. It can remove Pain and Contusion (not a big deal of a debuff, goes away on its own shortly) and provides a small bonus to hydration and energy. Optimizing location is a series of subjective trade-offs. There is no perfect place, they all have advantages and disadvantages. So you must decide your personal preference of which goods and bads you most desire and what your scenario expectations are of the future. Your personal preferences and collapse expectations mean the “best area” is specific to you. What you can achieve and what do you desire, find the overlap between the two, then do research to find the place that gives you the most goods with the least bads and increases your probability of survival and standard of living. One of the best strategies is to adapt yourself to your local circumstances to take advantage of the advantages, and plan ahead to mitigate the disadvantages, it is really all most people can do for themselves. Do you like not living in unbearable heat, maybe moving to greenland is NOT a better option than just buying 400watts of solar panels and attaching it to a small efficient AC that keeps one room of your house cool even during summer electricity blackouts. Most problems have multiple solutions, it is worth it to take time and think about things from an economic perspective and different time horizon perspectives. Increasing your optionality is better than narrowing it when it comes to survival, rather than the binary thinking, of “go way out into the northern mountains, farm and live in a bunker” versus “be a full time yuppie and ignore collapse issues”. Getting 2 acres you can put a cheap used rv camper on and go do permaculture on during weekends, near enough your place of employment/where you live, is probably a better plan. Indeed the small dacha’s and country gardens helped many people survive the collapse of the USSR. They would spend weekends and haul potatoes/veggies back to the city with them on the bus. Hedge your bets to cover the most scenarios including the most likely scenarios like losing your job or getting in a car accident. Survival and thriving always has and always will involve dynamic adaptation. Hot versus cold
A lot of people in the forum think they it is somehow optimal for them to move to canada or greenland. Someone in eastern kansas moving to canada is not necessary, remember even in RCP8.5 business as usual scenario kansas by the end of the century still won’t be as hot as texas is currently. If there are already people living in hotter dryer areas now, then it doesn’t make a lot of sense to pack up your shit and move to the arctic, just enjoy the longer summers. At least base it on something scientific like the expectation of when that area will cross the 35C wetbulb survivability threshold, so if you live in Bandar Mahshahr then yes move somewhere else now is time.
Do you have children?
Moving somewhere may not be needed if you can live out your expected natural lifespan before things get too bad, especially with the climate. If you have children you may want to move to account for the expectations during their future lifetimes.
Wet versus dry
Wet places usually have more disease and insect loads for people and crops. In dry places it is harder to raise food, net primary productivity is usually lower, except where irrigation is available but there are usually less pests including plant fungal diseases like powdery mildew. There are Europeans living in certain parts of africa whom can only inhabit those areas currently because of antimalarial drugs, pesticides and mosquito nets. The native populations are full of people heterozygous for sickle cell which gives them resistance/immunity to the malaria, just a long view consideration.
Seasonality of rainfall
if you get all your rainfall in the summer you usually live in a region where the muggy wetbulb temps are higher and will be getting higher. You are more likely to get floods during the growing season. If you get rainfall mainly in the winter like mediteranean climates you will usually have dry summers with low humidity so deadly wetbulb temps should not be a problem but maintaining summer vegetables requires irrigation. If using rainfed agriculture you will have different crop choices, which areas grow the types of food you like?
Sunny versus overcast
Sunny areas are great for some dark skinned people and needed for vitamin D production in post collapse scenarios unless you have a good dietary source, black people in dim areas get Vitamin D deficiency diseases like rickets and have higher mortality in a hard enough crash. Gecko skinned gingers thrive better in overcast areas. Lots of people currently exist in environments they are biologically maladapted to, they are only able to live there because of modern fortified foods/supplements and medical care. Bright sunlight destroys folate (needed for reproduction) in pale people and causes skin cancer. Some people get S.A.D. and commit suicide in the gloomy winters of the pacific northwest USA. Just because a place is good in lots of other ways, you should not consider it if it will leave suicidal.
Growing season, long versus short
Long growing season usually means more heat for longer, more times to grow crops but usually less optimal conditions. Short seasons means you have to compress a lot more work in a shorter amount of time. It also means trees grow slower and growing your own fuel supply takes more land footprint while you simultaneously need more heating fuel. Places like iowa have moderate/short growing season but the high lattitude makes for long daylength which increases productivity during the moderate/short growing season. Rainfall is concentrated during the summer and soils highly fertile but it is practically one giant biocide saturated monoculture of death. It doesn’t matter if the you live in a fecund area if your future children die of bluebaby syndrome from the nitrate pollution in the well-water or end up mentally retarded from the chlorpyrifos spray drift bioaccumulating and destroying neural development in utero.
Let's be real here, most of you need to have employment to live, even as things crumble in a slow crash the vast majority will be dependent on employment and purchasing in the marketplace that which they need for subsistence. Cities are almost always better for employment. Keep in mind recently and historically, even prior to the industrial revolution, people were more often moving to cities to escape collapse scenarios in real life. You can look at africa and the middle east today. The reason is the city with its dense network effects can command food from a diversity of sources and the economics incentivize shipping surplus to cities. In times where the economics don't incentivize it governments usually seize it and send it to the cities. There is lots of historical precedent showing this, despite the general ruralist zeitgiest among collapsniks thinking that they need a homestead in the country. Employment or entitlements has been and will be the primary way people meet subsistence needs even in most collapse scenarios. Even in 3rd world areas that are experiencing famines, war, full infrastructure breakdown and conditions that are equivalent to 1st worlder visions of total collapse, people still wake up, go to work pulling weeds for the local land baron, get paid and then go buy a bowl of millet from the store.
High versus low wages.
some areas have low wages but this can come with benefits like low cost of living and people being pre-adapted to living through cooperative social behaviors and "ghetto rigging" improvisation. Last time i was in some shithole parts of arkansas i noticed just about every rural person had a decent sized garden, more than any other state i've been to. They feel compelled to share unlike some high-income places where people are clawing for money to pay rents or status seeking in a dog eat dog competitive environment. I have lived in quite a few homeless encampments and one thing that surprises people is how everyone gives away all surplus among each other, this is a paleolithic variance smoothing strategy, it is supernaturally effective and feels natural once you do it. I see it re-evolve over and over in poor people.
Education levels and sociability of the population
Is the area culturally acceptable to you? Are you acceptable to the people of the area?
There are places that may have all sorts of good qualities but they are filled with ignorant racist meth head bible belt sociopaths who will torment you out of sheer boredom. Some places get full of these people and they reinforce the ignorance and shittiness into a dominant culture that you will be fighting against if you move there. Distance from food sources
Being close to a food source like right on a farm you grow on is great but if you have crop failure you may have no draw to bring in the food. Distance should be measured multiple ways including the strength and reliability of the transportation networks and the energetic distance for transport in energy descent scenarios. Think of the number of connections in the network you can draw from. In a city there are many stores each store sourcing from thousands of farmers, if a few farmers or stores fail there are still plenty of options. Some small rural towns depopulate once the single local walmart closes. Do you trust the local weather and your own potential self sufficiency more than markets/entitlements and transport resilience? Across what scenarios and time spans?
Legal rights and entitlements availability
Solid legal rights and strong property law is great if you are part of the ownership class but when you are dispossessed, lack of legal enforcement can give you a higher standard of living because you can build shelter and do side hustles things without having "the man" come slap you down. In a place like western Europe you may have recourse to welfare entitlements and unemployment insurance payments to buy food in financial crashes and slow crash scenarios, in some countries things like this are not available, this is more important than most people think. Indeed most recent famines occur where food is present but people just have no way to buy it because they are brokeAF, you don't see rich people in those areas starving.
Water flows towards money. Just because there is a stream nearby doesn't mean you will be able to take water from it, you may need water rights while government is still able to enforce such edicts. Alternatively you may have impeccable senior water rights but the government enforcement is defunded and someone with zero water rights is upstream from you sucking the entire creek dry during a crash. Rainfall vs irrigation. rainfall allows a form of independence but having reliable irrigation can smooth out catastrophic variance in rain shortfalls. Don’t forget irrigation management was a major factor in the formation of early oppressive states.
Even prior to the industrial revolution, in cities that had Sea Ports, the population in those cities had higher survival rates than those living in the countryside during famines. Transportation is critical. More transportation modes plane, train, automobile, bikepaths, all different roads, rails, canals, rivers etc. These transports allow goods to flow, which generally helps satisfy regional shortages. Some people judge the main threat to be people taking what they have, usually it is governments doing the taking in the historical record but many are concerned with mythical hordes. If you subscribe to this paranoia about people robbing your homestead you may enjoy being as minimally connected as possible to the transport system. You must determine based on your own preferences and expectations. Good transport is a double edged sword, it means food/resources can also be shipped out of your area towards money/powerful people, remember ownership norms and enforcement rarely disappear during collapse-like periods, indeed the ownership class still sends supplies to the highest bidder which may not be you, see Irish Gorta Mor for example.
In places like london way back when they still burned wood as cooking and heating fuel there were estates just outside the city that were highly organized coppice producers that fueled the city. Wood is heavy and only so much could be carried in a cartload considering they relied on animal traction. There was a distance where bringing the wood to london to sell would not make you any money even despite you getting wood for free because the cost of the journey feeding yourself and animal took the entire value of the wood. These effects are worth thinking about across different transport scenarios. Assets become stranded and likewise things can become uneconomical to ship to you when you need things produced in the city. The wood producing estates outside london were well off financially and smaller estate size could provide higher income than the much more distant estates that were an order of magnitude larger. Transport matters, markets and trade continue to exist in practically every collapse and even in supermax prisons, expect to use markets as a survival strategy, it is more likely than you living some isolated mountain man scenario.

The best soils are those that are relatively new and have been subjected to just enough rainfall to match the evapotranspiration rate, this minimizes nutrients leaching out, these are the mollisols/chernozems of the prairies. Because the water is just-enough in those zones they are also right at the edge where they can have major droughts with even slightly less rainfall. Wetter areas generally have less inherent soil fertility because of more leaching of nutrients but have more room for rainfall variability without plants meeting water deficiency.

Having a positive social environment with people you love while just getting by, is better than doing well financially and being socially isolated, for most people. Don’t abandon good family and friends if you can avoid it, it is usually not worth it. “Social capital” has always been a key to human flourishing. Many people in the collapse of the USSR survived on “blat”, not by relocating. A real world social network for altruistic reciprocity is a survival tool.
Proximity to imperialist countries with militaries that may want/need your resources for themselves or their people
Places like ukraine, some of the best farmland in the world, a country may seem optimal in many ways but historically this advantage was noted by outsiders and it has been at the crossroads of empires which means they suffered tremendously in war. The devastation of war and imperialism negated much of the natural benefits of the area when it comes to survival rates. This is something to consider. In parts of africa there is more conflict in abundant zones with more food, outside of famine zones because paramilitaries are supported from the land there and controlling the food supply is used as weapon of political power. Concentration of resources can make areas more dangerous, it makes attacking them economical.

My thoughts for what would make a great space-oriented update:
No more "one space station per star system". Instead, each individual planet can have its own station (or might have none). There are different types of space stations, each specializing in a different thing. More on that later.
Different planets can now be run by different races, so in a given system you may have a planet owned by the Gek and another owned by the Vykeen. This can lead to tensions between the races, and even heated space battles popping up at random that the player can join.
Expansion of ambient space battles. It's now possible to see squadrons of capital ships duking it out with each other, accompanied by dogfights of personal starfighters. The player can join one of these battles for either side, gaining reputation with one while losing reputation with the other.
Stars now actually exist, instead of just being a background image. Planets will appear at different parts of an orbit, meaning it's possible for planets to be on opposite sides of a star from each other. Flying too close to a star will result in death, so players will need to learn how to navigate around a star to get to other planets. There would be a auto-navigate option
Star systems now have "geography". Asteroids are no longer omnipresent, but will appear in either cohesive asteroid fields orbiting the sun or in "clouds" on the outer reaches of the star system.
An overhaul of the starship fuel system. Tritium and pyrite are still used as pulse drive fuel, but since asteroids are no longer found everywhere in space, the player will need to be more careful. Tritium can now only be found in trace amounts in asteroids. In the case of being stranded between planets, the player can send out a distress signal and get an emergency refuel from a shuttle sent out by the nearest space station or freighter (there is an exorbitant fee for this).
Players can now install technology on their ship that allows them to fly extremely close to a star and "scoop" gas to use as fuel. In addition to giving the player a full stack of tritium (or some new form of pulse drive fuel) it can also provide large quantities of new rare gases.
Gas giants. Gas giants can now appear in star systems. They can not be landed on, but they are home to unique types of space stations that can't be found elsewhere (such as gas mining orbitals). The player can also install technology that allows them to withstand the enormous atmospheric pressure/gravity of a gas giant and perform a number of activities, such as "scooping" exotic gases and fuel or even finding anomalies in the atmosphere such as ancient derelict ships. Gas giants are also more likely than planets to have moons.
Asteroids are now much larger, and some can be landed on. Exploring an asteroid on foot requires special exosuit upgrades to protect from the extreme radiation of space. Asteroids can be mined for valuable metals, and may rarely even contain new types of biological horrors.
The player can now find derelict ships and freighters within asteroid fields. Salvaging these requires the same exosuit upgrades as landing on asteroids, but will involve performing a space walk. Your exosuit now has micro boosters that allow you to control your movement in free space.
To accommodate greater specialization of ships, the player can now own up to 9 personal starships. Reaching this maximum, however, will prevent NPC ships from landing on the freighter.
There are now "patrols" in each system. The powers that own a given planet will have their own patrols of starships that mostly stay close to the planets and stations they own. Pirates will have their own patrol areas as well, usually occupying the space between planets and also having a heavy presence in asteroid fields. The result is that some parts of a star system are relatively safe, and others are downright dangerous to explore. There will be clashes between pirates and non-pirates where their patrols overlap.
Black holes are renamed to wormholes
Deep space is no longer empty. At a certain point in the Atlas Path storyline, the player gains the ability to see deep space regions on the galaxy map. These regions can be warped to just like any star system, except there will be no star there. These regions can be inhabited by exoplanets that have had their proc-gen settings "set free" to make them look truly crazy. They can also be home to other anomalies.
The center of the galaxy is now an actual place. It is a cluster of star systems that surround a true "center system". The center system is home to a massive black hole. Diving into this black hole is now what moves a player to the next galaxy. Similar to deep space systems, the systems around the center of the galaxy have planets with "wild" procedural generation, meaning you'll see some truly weird terrain and combinations of planets, animals, and the like.
Players can now build space stations. A new set of basebuilding tools is available for this purpose, including gas mining machines, asteroid mining bays, and more. The player can choose up to three NPC personnel from a new selection of NPC's to provide some of the functionality that space stations can have. Hire a ship dealer NPC to add that functionality to your base. Hire a blueprint/upgrade salesman. Hire a scrapyard attendant to allow you to scrap ships at your station. Hire a mission agent in order to be able to accept and turn in missions from your station. See if you can make the perfect "one-stop shop" for players visiting your star system.
New star types
Space station types
Trade hubs. Most commonly found orbiting Gek planets. These have a lot of the features that space stations currently have: galactic trade terminal, appearance modifier, a bunch of NPC's walking around. You can also purchase haulers from a ship dealer (instead of purchasing from NPC's landing on the station). Traders guild missions are available from here.
Military outposts. Most commonly found orbiting Vykeen planets. Here you can buy ship and multitool upgrades, and directly purchase a new personal starship from an assortment of fighter-style craft (instead of buying them from NPC's landing on the station). Different space stations will have different ships to choose from. Mercs guild missions are available here.
Research stations. Most commonly found orbiting Korvax planets. Here you can buy planetary charts, buy exosuit upgrades, and purchase explorer-type ships from a ship dealer.
Mining stations. Each asteroid field has a chance of having one of these (it's not associated with a planet). The ship dealer here will sell shuttles, and pay higher-than-normal prices for any minerals that you want to sell them. These are a perfect "home base" for explorers that intend to do a lot of asteroid mining - blast some space rocks and then return to the mining station to sell your goods. Mining stations are now where the ship-scrapping terminal can be found.
Shipyards. Here, you can buy from a large assortment of all ship types, with a chance of even exotic ships being available (no living ships though). This is also where you can upgrade your ship now (separate terminal from the ship-scrapping one now).
Gas mining stations. Only found around gas giants. Similar to the regular mining stations, but focused on the gases and anomalies that can be found in gas giants.
New ship stats
Scooping - ships with a higher scooping stat will get higher quantities of materials when scooping stars or gas giants. Shuttles have the highest natural scooping value
Mining - ships with a higher mining stat will get higher yields from blasting asteroids. Haulers would have the highest natural mining value.
... at least, that's what I think would be really cool.

There's many options to choose from, so do whatever you'd like! Change colors, go to Night Mode, or even alter your information. That can be a useful skill if you gain followers. Step 7. You will see a few checkboxes, to see or restrict certain content. There's ones for blurring images unsuitable for work, and also ones for hiding unwanted users. Do what you please. Step 8. If you change your username to binary code for a few days in October, you unlock the secret dev features. This doesn't mean anything major like banning users, just simple things usually dealing with cosmetics. More or less giving the Inspect tool an interface for people who don't know how to use it, but it can be fun to play with fonts. Step 9. Dev features can cause some conflicts in programs running simultaneously. If you have no programs running, you can leave this guide. If you have your Steam or Discord account running, users may connect to chats you're in. A brief user list is included below. 03133 - Usually speaks about a cat, a dog, or an underground installation in Georgia. 0.3.1.3.3 - Speaks about the dog, but not the cat, and only briefly mentions the underground installation. 0-3-1-3-3 - Speaks obsessively about the underground instillation. typwrtr1987 - Speaks about a "new novel", the plot of which is confusing. desolatecanvas2867 - Speaks about art, and is focused on the heat-death of the universe. hilariousporpoise9999 - Tells basic jokes, some even from jokes. kilimanjaroproject9 - Sends morse, binary. and hex codes, only sending plain english speaking about the three types of rock. kilimanjaroproject10 - Sends identical messages as above with misspellings. windowpaines02 - Sends audio clips of rubber scaping against glass, and frequently texts long chains of unrelated emojis of the same color. wcltlo-suntan - Mimics human interaction. If any of these users message you, determine their intentions with the chart in step 10. Step 10. Determine the intentions of the users. This can be done using these guidelines: Message starts with: A-E: dangerous, follow plan I F-P: dormant, follow plan II Q-T: safe, follow plan III U-Z: undetermined, follow plan IV 1-999: urgent, follow plan V Video Call: follow plan VI Other: follow plan VII PLANS: Plan I - Safety Close Steam and Discord. Go to Reddit and change your personal data to something you remember. Do not use the information of family members, no matter how distant. Go into your computer's file explorer and delete all game files, steam user data, discord data, anything tied to those programs. Open your computer's Antivirus software and run four scans. If nothing shows up in any of the scans, you should be fine. If malware or hostile programs are detected, bring your computer to the Second Street Parking Garage in Tuscon, Arizona. Go to the third floor and drop it under the yellow van. Come back two days later, and your PC will be problem-free. Plan II - Caution Ask their intentions in simple words. A good example is "Why are you messaging me, [username]?" If the response is hostile, refer to Plan I. If the response is anything else, for example, talking about their cat or the high gas prices, refer to Plan III. Plan III - Avoidance Make brief small talk with the entity, speaking in a way that you think may please them. Talk about their interests, and end every message with STOP. When they finally say "farewell, happy holidays," or some variation (i.e "farewell, merry christmas,") then reply with "find you elsewhere, friend". You must make sure to carry out conversation with no more than a minute between responses for the entire duration. If at any point the entity becomes hostile, refer to Plan I. Plan IV - Outcomes Unknown This has only been recorded to happen 7 times in the past 13 years. Do your best to determine if it is a hostile message. A tell-tale indicator is if they are offline, there is danger. Refer to plans I and III in accordance with the situation. Plan V - Assistance The entity will text you with a seemingly unimportant request after a series of numbers. Examples include: "947, Make yourself a sandwich." "838, Open a jar." "478, Find a leaf that is half-torn." "998, Watch your neighbor mow the lawn for 187.84 seconds." "616, Hide under an oak tree." "389, Go to sleep with headphones on." "930, Go for a half-mile run at dusk." Leave your computer on, follow the instructions clearly, then return to your computer. Close the chat window, and then re-open it. The messages will be gone. Plan VI - Indifference Do not answer the video call. The volume of the ringtone will increase more and more, reaching decibel levels enough to destroy your headphones. No matter what, do not remove your headphones. Doing so will answer the call, and you will be subject to seeing images you will never forget. The images will be saved to your computer, and a few weeks later you will be SWATted. You will be either thrown into federal prison, or killed. Plan VII: Unknown. Document your findings. netdata, the open-source real-time performance and health monitoring, released v1.14 !
Hi all, We just released netdata v1.14 ! This release contains 14 bug fixes and 24 improvements The release introduces major additions to Kubernetes monitoring, with tens of new charts for Kubelet, kube-proxy and coredns metrics, as well as significant improvements to the netdata helm chart. Two new collectors were added, to monitor Docker hub and Docker engine metrics. Finally, v1.14 adds support for version 2 cgroups, OpenLDAP over TLS, NVIDIA SMI free and per process memory and configurable syslog facilities. Improvements:

netdata supports sending its logs to Syslog, but the facility was hard-coded. We now support configurable Syslog facilities in netdata.conf
We encountered sporadic failures of our kickstart installation scripts after nightly releases. We add integrity tests to our pipeline to ensure we prevent faulty scripts from getting deployed.

It provides a much-appreciated graphical interface for the very popular Robocopy command-line utility. Windows Update MiniTool is an alternative to the standard (and sometimes overbearing) Windows Update. It allows you to control updates by giving you the power to search, install, and block Windows updates in any way you like. Space Monger gives you a graphical image of your whole disk, where large files and folders are easily identified. This handy tool can be run from a USB drive, so you don't even need to install it. Thanks for this one and Windows Update MiniTool go to mikedopp. UNetbootin is a terrific, cross-platform utility for creating bootable live USB drives for Ubuntu and other Linux distributions without burning a CD. Thanks go to Gianks for this one. CopyQ is a clipboard manager that adds some advanced editing and scripting capabilities. It monitors the system clipboard and saves text, HTML, images and more into customized tabs. From there, the saved content can be copied and pasted directly into any application. Clipboard history is easily searchable and can be filtered. Suggested by majkinetor. Desktop Info provides a quick view of every kind of metric about your Windows system right on your desktop. The display looks like wallpaper but stays resident in memory and updates in real time. Gives you a quick way to monitor what any system is up to, while using very little memory and requiring almost nothing from the CPU. This one was recommended by mikedopp. Healthstone is a lightweight, self-hosted, agent-based system-monitoring solution that runs lots of customizable health checks. The dashboard runs on a Windows or Linux server, and it has agents for the Windows and Linux hosts you want to monitor. You can customize the dashboard to send notifications via email, Pushbullet, or NodePoint tickets whenever a client stops checking in or any of the configured checks fail. Configuration is retrieved from the dashboard by all agents in the form of templates, which are stored in the templates folder and can be customized for your needs. Thanks to mikedopp for this one! Rufus is another utility for formatting and creating bootable USB flash drives. This one works with MRB/GPT and BIOS/UEFI. Rufus is about twice as fast as UNetbootin, Universal USB Installer, or Windows 7 USB download tool when creating a Windows 7 USB installation drive from an ISO. It is also marginally faster for creating a Linux bootable USB from ISOs. We first heard of this one from Gianks, but there were quite a few others who shared the recommendation as well. Axence netTools is a set of ten free tools for network scanning and monitoring. Includes: Netwatch (multiple host availability and response-time monitoring); Network port and service scanner; Wintools (view of launched processes/services, remote register editor and Windows event log view, HDD/RAM/CPU details, custom queries based on WMI protocol); TCP/IP workshop and SNMP browser; Traceroute; NetStat (list of inbound and outbound connections and open ports); Local info (tables with local configuration details, TCP/UDP stats); Lookup (DNS and WHOIS records); Bandwidth test; and NetCheck (LAN hardware and wiring quality check). MediCat USB is a a bootable troubleshooting environment with Linux and Windows boot environments and troubleshooting tools. A complete Hiren's Boot Disk replacement for modern hardware that follows the Ubuntu release cycle with a new update released every 6 months. The DVD version was originally recommended to us by Spikerman "for when you need to helpdesk warrior." MobaXterm is an enhanced terminal for remote computing. It brings all the key remote network tools (SSH, X11, RDP, VNC, FTP, MOSH) and Unix commands (bash, ls, cat, sed, grep, awk, rsync) to Windows desktop in a single, portable .exe file that works out of the box. You'll get a sub-tree view with disk-use percent and a list of file extensions ordered by usage. IIS Crypto allows administrators to enable or disable protocols, ciphers, hashes and key exchange algorithms on Windows Server 2008, 2012 and 2016. You can also reorder SSL/TLS cipher suites from IIS, implement best practices with a single click, create custom templates and test your website. Available in both command line and GUI versions. EOTFOFFTW tells us, “This tool has been very helpful in configuring SSL settings for Windows IIS servers.” Ditto saves all your clipboard items so you can access them later. WSUS Offline Update lets you safely patch any computer running Microsoft Windows and Office—even when there's no connection to the Internet or a network of any sort. More specifically, you first run WSUS Offline Update on a machine that has Internet connectivity to download the updates you need and copy the resulting update media to a USB drive. You then use the USB drive to run the update on the target computers. Recommended by mikedopp. SystemRescueCd is a Linux system rescue disk that allows you to administer or repair your system and data after a crash. It can be booted via CD/DVD, USB or installed directly on the hard disk. Many system utilities like GParted, fsarchiver, filesystem tools and basic tools (editors, midnight commander, network tools) are included, and it works on Linux and Windows computers, desktops and servers. Supports ext3/ext4, xfs, btrfs, reiserfs, jfs, vfat, ntfs—as well as network filesystems such as Samba and NFS. KiTTY is a fork of PuTTY, the popular Telnet and SSH client. Easy2Boot is a collection of grub4dos scripts to be copied onto a grub4dos-bootable USB drive. Each time you boot, the E2B scripts automatically find all the payload files (.ISO, .IMA, .BIN, .IMG, etc.) on the USB drive and dynamically generate the menus. No fiddling around with custom boot menus when you add a new .ISO." CCleaner is the fastest way to eliminate temporary files and Windows Registry problems. I've been farming Colossal packs recently, for two reasons. For starters I want a fair amount of the cards in it, but secondly, and perhaps more importantly, two of its' super rares were nerfed into the ground and are relatively unplayable, essentially netting 1,000 sparks every time you get one (fire weed and sunflower seed). I've gotten pretty lucky with getting them, and have saved up over 21,000 sparks. I've been thinking quite a bit about what I should craft, constantly rereading this list and its' individual card ratings. I have lots of ideas on what I should craft, based on all sorts of different things like viability and how much fun they'd be to use, etc. Since I'm rather indecisive and tend to just sit on things rather then make a choice myself, I'd love to hear some second thoughts on what I should get. Keep in mind, I'm not always interested with competitive viability. I have a tendency to get lots of fun with really bad gimmicky decks as well, since I'm not too concerned about losing outside of ranked battles. Here's what I'm thinking of crafting thus far, in no particular order: Lima Pleurodon: This card is one of the major reasons why I've been farming Colossal packs. It's incredibly useful all around, as the card tier list clearly shows. It would also finish my first strategy deck, Face blaster 9000, which is my favorite strategy deck, even though it is just a poorly shambled together cyclecap deck. It'd support Smarty aggro as well, which is something I've been playing a lot recently (for some reason beta carrotina/citron keep being picked as ticket heroes for me). My only major issue with crafting these is that I only have 1 of them at the moment; crafting the other 3 would cost a whopping 12,000 sparks! I feel like I could get a lot more fun out of 3 sets of super rares then 4 lima pleurodons, regardless of however less viable they may be... Stompadon: Just a really fun card to mess with, random battle event or not. I luckily managed to get another one in the last pack I opened, so I only need 1 more now. I feel like I could have a lot of fun experimenting with 4 of them (I'm even thinking of making a gimmicky pet deck with them). The only things really holding me back from crafting the final one is the cost (that's still 4 super rares), and that I'll likely open some more colossal packs in the future, but given its' taken me this long just to get 3 stompadons, that's no guarantee at all. Line Dancing Zombie: I really feel like I'm missing out with this one. I love messing about with strikethrough, and this one is arguably one of the best strikethrough cards there are. I don't have any at the moment, and I don't feel like investing in premium packs to shoot for them (I already did that a lot in the early days, and the pool of cards in premium packs are so huge! Even amongst the super rares, the odds of getting any single card is so low!). Tricarrotops: Another legendary that I only need 1 more of to get 4. A lovely all around card that's basically a necessity in root decks (one of my favorite horrible deck archetypes). The reasons behind me not rounding it out are basically identical to those for Stompadon (already farming Colossal packs, and I could buy 4 super rares for the price of 1 legendary), but this card is far more viable and aggressive, which could support my aggro Beta Carrotina deck, even if only by 1 more card. Three-nut: This is one of the biggest reasons I've been farming colossal packs, but frustratingly, I've never even unpacked one! The potential for this card is extreme; essentially being a far more flexible but less powerful version of onion rings. I've always had a soft spot for the peanut plants, even way back when PvZ2 was there only home, and the potential for super aggressive decks is simply off the charts! There are only two super rares from colossal I've yet to get, and I'm really sad that this of all cards had to be one of them. I'd love to just cash out for them, but I'm worried my next pack opening might end up with three of them, given my luck with some of the other super rares :Y Mixed up Gravedigger: This card has so much potential, both for zany wacky goof decks and for effectively ending games, that it's simply staggering! I already get some pretty good use out of encrypted, so being able to do that to a whole board just screams with the potential for amazingly fun decks. The only thing is, it's a legendary, and I have 0 of them; getting 4 would cost 16,000 sparks, which is over two thirds of my current savings! Even getting just 2 of them would take a significant chunk out of my savings, but not having 4 would make it harder to construct decks around this card... Cursed Gargolith: Another reason I've been farming colossal packs, and the second super rare I've failed to get even a single copy of! This card is essentially the cheaper and more limited version of mixed up grave digger, but also opens up loads of potential for gargolith decks as Neptuna, one of my favorite heroes. I'd love to get more options to mess around with the sneaky-hearty class combo, and this seems like a pretty good one. Although I'd still need to invest in... Gargologist: I only have 1 thus far, and it's obviously the best gargantuar enabler. It isn't even half bad as a standalone card as a 2/3 for 2, even if it's ability is your only reason for playing it. The issue with this one is, it's an event card; as far as I know, it could be next weeks event card, and I would have wasted precious sparks on a card I could have easily gotten for free! It's not quite as flashy as far as cards I'd like to get, but I feel like garg synergy just isn't worth shooting for without it. Zombology Teacher: I love rustbolt. Rustbolt loves tricks. This card is a match made in heaven in that regard :3 I have 1 at the moment, and would love to get 4. This does however, also fall into the trap of being an event card, which could very well make it free at some point. It gets even worse though; Zombology teacher costs 2,000 sparks instead of 1,000, so the investment would be a much bigger sink then most other event/super rare cards. The dream of spamming piles of free tricks and/or achieving the infinite going viral loop are very, very tantalizing though... I'd love to have this card! Planetary gladiator: A cheap 1 drop blocker with 3 health and armored, an extremely fast version of soul patch that can more easily be buffed/invulnerable, a great super cheap sports card alongside zombie coach and mascot imp, a way to delay into the mid/late game for more stall/control/stupid gimmick decks... There's a lot going for this card for me, even if it can be block chargy at times. It's a shame I don't have any, despite my brief obsession with galactic packs. Cat lady: The second enabler of pets, and arguably one of the most potent. What other 1 drop can reliably become a 6/4 on turn 2? Pets is a lot of fun for me, but immediately falls apart when I don't get zookeeper, or my zookeepers are immediately nuked off the board by cheap removal or chump blockers. I feel like cat lady is an extremely important piece of the puzzle that turns pets from a silly gimmick into a true aggressive playstyle, and that I'm really missing out on it (I have 0 of them)... Hover Goat: It's a nice card in general, and could be a real beast in science. But there's also that goat synergy!!! No really, I'd love to build an awful gimmick deck around goat synergy with more then 4 goats in it, that just sounds awesome :3 Yet another fun little card stuck in event card limbo for me. Hunting Grounds: Apparently one of the few viable environments (and one of the few I have 0 of). I like environments, so thats' already pretty tantalizing. The fact that it's the only one to trigger pets and would fit well in a pet deck only makes it more so. Other then that, I'm not sure what qualities it's good for compared to area 22, even after reading up on it. I'm more curious then anything... Rocket Science: I love rustbolt. Rustbolt without this card is threatened by runaway growth/buff cards. Rustbolt with this card simply nukes those things and moves on. A card I'd love to have more then 0 of, for all sorts of decks, silly or not. Teleport: I have 0 of them. And if I don't invest in them after saving up loads of sparks, I might never them, given they're a premium legendary and the card pool for premium legendaries is so large. Falls into the same trap as lima pluerodon; it's undeniably an amazing tool for loads of decks, I'm just not sure if it'll feel like it was worth 16 super rares worth of sparks... Disconaut: I only have one. Which is truely a shame, being able to spam worthless nonsense onto the field without giving the opponent free super powers sounds absolutely wonderful! Would be great in the zoo + final mission focused decks I've been trying to make; only having one copy is really dragging those down a lot of the time. Binary stars: This card scares me. 90% of the time, when this card hits the field, I die. Horribly. The potential for this card, both as a finisher and as a very gimmicky late game aggro enabler are huge. I'd love to throw around 4 damage bungie plumbers and 8 damage final missions, but being a legendary I have 0 copies of, the cost of actually obtaining them is a huge hurdle... Black Hole: This card is amazing. It's in nearly all of my hearty decks. And I only have 2 copies. That's all I have to say; if I didn't have so many other intriguing options for my sparks, those last 2 copies would be instacrafts! Kitchen Sink Zombie: Much like binary stars, this is a card I envy for its ability to simply finish games on the spot. It feels like whenever I conjure it (even at full price), it swings the game a little in my favor, and I've been put in losing scenarios multiple times by it. And that's not even mentioning how hilariously gimmicky its' countless abilities are! Slapping it down on a Laser Base and making it untrickable sounds like a very entertaining goof of a deck to build! It also is a 2,000 spark cost event card though, so that's been holding me back thus far... Dr. Space time: I can already hear the comments; conjure is bad. Believe me, I'm in full agreement with you, in terms of winning games reliably, conjure is down right horrible. Even at a lower price, having to rely on random nonsense can effortlessly swing the game in your opponents favor. Trust me I know. But from the perspective of someone like me, who loves stupid gimmick decks and doesn't mind losing a few games here or there, conjure is great fun! I already run it constantly offline, and I don't even have any conjure "synergy" (I have 0 copies). I feel like this card could open the door to loads of wacky conjuring shenanigans, and be loads of fun, even if it never sees play on ranked :3 Pair Pearadise: Very entertaining gimmick environment that enables load of stupid awful combos. Again, it might never hit ranked, but oh gosh it'd be fun to mess about with this card! I only have 1 at the moment, so doing anything with it is pretty hard. Bog of Enlightenment: One of the biggest enablers of amphibious! And I don't even have any! Regardless of what's in that lane, it seems to benefit you, by buffing your cards, nerfing the opponents, or simply limiting the opponents plays! Seems like a great smarty card in general, and given my love of environments, it'd be nice to own one of, if not the only viable plant environments. Laser Cattail: Just seems to be so useful and general purpose all around. Is also cute! Would love to have these to fill out a deck, but I don't have any specific plans for them. Mixed Nuts: Any card that can turn wall nuts and sunflowers into aggressive killers sounds like great fun! Essentially being zoo keeper for plants, this card seems very easy to snowball into a big problem for the enemy! Even if it isn't viable in the slightest, it seems like it'd be loads of fun to play and build with! Like the other event cards, I'm cautious about spending sparks on it, since it could potentially be mine for free in a month or two. Shrinking Violet: Really good. Like, really good. At least as far as I've seen and heard; I own zero! Not much more to say honestly; I just want to try it out and see how I can build with it. Could fit pretty well in my gimmicky destroy decks I bet X3 Astrocado: Reddit noob: whats a good deck? Reddit: Solar flare + astrocado = yes Falls into the 16,000 spark pitfall like the other legendaries, but is also nice and aggressive and apparently is the current meta! Seems like a lovely finisher for my aggressive strikethrough decks, but that price is still a huge barrier... Haunted Pumpking: The literal king of aggro. The only things that could even theoretically be better then it on turn 1 is conman against a silly plant hero playing Holo-Flora and a cat lady with several goats, both of which are nigh impossible and easily countered! It falls into the trap of event cards, but I'm even more cautious with this one, seeing as halloween is slowly approaching. Exploding Fruitcake: Essentially an instant removal for 2, this card speaks for itself! It's only drawback is being an event card... Thanks for reading through all that!
